Sediment Silt Sampler

This is the most commonly used type of suspended sediment sampler, consisting of a one-litre metallic bottle held vertically within a sturdy metal frame. It is mounted on a pipe of suitable length with a lever at the lower end, and a flexible wire connected to a spring-operated mechanism for opening and closing the bottle’s mouth, which is fitted with a rubber cork during sampling. The design allows for controlled and efficient collection of suspended sediments. Known for its low cost, simple construction, and ease of operation, this sampler remains a practical and reliable choice for routine sediment monitoring.
